Thomson Rest is situated in the quiet suburb of Belmont, one street off the hub of High Street and a 5-minute drive down the road to Geelong CBD. There is no shortage of things to take in around the property, such as cafes, shopping, movie theatres and restaurants. The property comprises of five private Queen Rooms, each of which has a Queen bed, Smart TV and sitting area. The laundry, bathroom and cooking facilities are shared between guests with a large backyard and BBQ to enjoy.

Thomson Rest is the perfect stopover if you are looking for an affordable and spacious place to call home as you visit Geelong, whether it for fun, work or study.
Located just off High St, Belmont, which is filled with life and only 5 minutes from Geelong CBD, where there are more restaurants and shops to enjoy as well as Deakin’s Waterfront campus. Or travel 5-10 Minutes in the other direction to Waurn Ponds where you can find Waurn Ponds shopping centre, another Deakin Campus and Epworth Hospital.
Have easy access to surrounding suburbs via the bus station on High St, just a 5 min walk away.
The communal areas of the home include a kitchen fitted with many appliances to cook your meals including an air fryer, convection oven with cooktop, rice cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and sandwich press. Followed by the washrooms, which feature two showers and two toilets all with locks, and a separate vanity area with double vanity and large mirrors for you to make yourself pretty in. Walking down the hallway before the back door is the laundry, which comprises a top loader washing machine, trough, and clothes horses. Exiting the back door, you have a small step down to the large backyard. The backyard features a great grassy area and BBQ where you can host a cookout with the friends you get to know at Thomson Rest.

Along the hallway you have the numbered rooms, fit with digital locks with unique codes. The private rooms themselves feature a plush Queen bed with side tables, lamps, wall-mounted Smart Tvs, space to hang your garments and a sitting area.
Please note each bedroom has a different set-up with its seating areas, with only room five having a dedicated desk area. Also, the fireplace in Room 1 is decorative only.
There is also differing Heating & Cooling in the rooms, most rooms only have a Ceiling Fan with no Heating. Rooms 1 & 2 have Split System Air conditioners.
Your room will be automatically assigned dependant on availability, you cannot reserve a specific room.
If you are bringing your own car, there is plenty of free parking in the neighbouring car park and on the road.

All in all it was fine, cheap accomodation in a great location, shared facilities are fine and honestly wasn’t really on top of anyone. Bed was comfortable, there was a fan and warm blanket. Simple accomodation, perfect for what I needed. <br/>There were only two downsides, one was the floors and furniture seemed like they had not been cleaned in a long time, there was rubbish and dust and stains on the floor. The bedding was all clean though. <br/>The second downside, was as part of the check in process, I was made to put down a $200 refundable deposit? On top of the fee already paid. This would be fine if it was communicated beforehand, the other option was a $80 non refundable deposit which seems just a little bit sleazy to me. Good value for money, would return with no hesitation T
