It's a short drive to the historic town of Queenscliff, Pt. Lonsdale, Geelong, Torquay, Portarlington olive groves and wineries, St. Leonards, the Bellarine coastal drive, Ocean Grove Pool complex and the marvellous Geelong Adventure Park - great for the kids and loads of fun. Just a one hour drive to Lorne via the Great Ocean Road. A great location to enjoy exploring the Bellarine Peninsula and all its treasures, or just staying put in River Anchorage and enjoying your idealic holiday location. River Anchorage has 3 good sized bedrooms, main with queen bed, 2nd with bunk bed and single bed, and 3rd with a double bed, sleeping a total of 7. There is one bathroom with shower, bath, and one toilet. The kitchen, dining, living area is open plan and includes gas heating and cosy open fire place, there are fans to cater for warmer days. The living area includes TV, DVD, stereo. Kitchen is well equipped including microwave, and electric upright oven and hotplates, refrigerator, and good supply of appliances. There is a breakfast bar which seats 4 and a kitchen and dining table. The laundry includes washing machine. Outdoors there is front and back fenced yard with BBQ and outdoor setting. The house has dual driveway access (back entry to Whitton Street and Barwon River - 200m walk to river, 900m to surf beach and 700m to shops a fantastic location for family holiday or week-end stay. Located in a perfect part of ocean grove, the house provided an amazing long term stay. Debbie was super kind and caring in making sure that our stay was a special one. We will definitely be utilising Debbie again in the near future!

Just a standard beach shack for the big price tag… There was no hot water working for our entire stay , which was disastrous for my family of 4 who couldn’t shower for 3 days!! Made worse when the host Debbie wouldn’t get a plumber or electrician out to deal with the emergency? electricity tripping out when using appliances like the toaster and microwave so this was also useless? No heating working, so had to spend an extra $100 on firewood… Upon communication with the host Debbie when she didn’t lie about a plumber coming, she proceeded to claim that I was rude for requesting these maintenance faults be fixed immediately ? All in all my family and I found this shack in Ocean grove to be absolutely miserable… without exaggeration!!! Tread carefully before you pay for this property hosted by Debbie from Barwon Heads….

The house is as described. It is in a good location and everything functioned as it should. There are only a few things which stood out that I'd make future guests aware of - there is no internet and there is no air conditioning and when we stayed there it got incredibly hot for a few days. Also the refrigerator is very small if you are a larger group of couples using the 3 available rooms. I'll happily admit that the amenities listing does not list internet or air conditioning and it was an oversight on my behalf upon booking. When I reached out to the owner/manager they did kindly assist by making sure each bedroom had a pedestal fan for us. Their communication was good and it was transparent. Overall we did have a fantastic stay despite a few days of suffering in the heat and using a lot of data on devices. The outdoor area was nice and the double entrance driveway a clever touch, as reversing onto Wallington Rd can be a nightmare with the traffic zipping around the corner.

When we arrived the house had a strong musty smell. We opened all the windows and doors, but the smell lingered until we had been there for a few days. However, the house was fairly clean - I think it's the house itself, rather than a lack of cleanliness. We could have used a few more cooking utensils, there were only a couple of small pots. There was no internet. No dishwasher. The layout of the house was nice and the bedrooms are a good size. The location on the corner is a bit awkward and the street was noisy, but otherwise the location is nice with a short walk to the beach.
